ADHD
More and more people are finding out that they or someone they know may have ADHD, and it is becoming more well-known in our society, yet it is still very much a mystery and a struggle. The ADHD journey can be very long and contain many challenges — questioning, accepting, learning new skills, medication and more.
At Growing Deeper Counselling, we walk with you through these challenges, working with individuals, couples, and families to develop tools, resources, and lifestyle changes to manage and make it through the struggles that come with ADHD.
ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)
Like ADHD, more and more people are encountering ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) in themselves, their families, or other parts of their lives. Yet it can still be a puzzle to which we “know” very few pieces. Plus, ASD is labeled a spectrum because, though there are many common experiences, it unique for everyone.
If you look for them, you can find new blogs, podcasts, posts, and articles every day about autism. And they seem to have a whole new vocabulary to learn – masking, burnout, stimming, hyperfocus, hypersensitive, and executive function and more.
At Growing Deeper Counselling, we work with you to find the understandings and puzzle pieces that fit for you and those in your life, helping you overcome the struggles that can come with living with ASD.
Couple’s Counselling
Life is a team sport, and a close, loving, supportive partnership with another can be one of the greatest teams we’ll ever be on, the greatest experience we’ll ever have. But it isn’t easy. In a world that places so much emphasis on the individual. We live in a culture, and often come from a family, that celebrates aggression, defensiveness, and self-fulfillment.
At Growing Deeper Counselling, we help you deescalate the conflicts and look for the experiences and ideas that push against supporting one another as a team. Then we work with you to develop new resources and skills to share your love and care for each other, to give and to receive, and to build both each other and your relationship.
Counselling with Men
70% of the people that attend counselling are women, but not because men have fewer problems than women. Life's problems and struggles are not gender specific. One important factor contributing to this statistic is fewer men than women see counselling as a good option.
Many men, like me, did not grow up with examples of men working through hardships and suffering with others. We are taught to be tough, to show strength, to be rational, to shove emotions down, or escape. We know how to fix things, we're there for others, but we don't talk about our own problems.
There are times in life for these strategies, and, at Growing Deeper Counselling, we want to help you develop other strategies, other resources as well. We provide a safe place for you to be yourself, to be heard without judgment, to be understood wherever you are coming from. We walk with you and help you grow through the suffering and struggle.
